The COD Profit Check (proposed pilot)

A proposed fixed-scope diagnostic that tells a D2C brand what failed cash-on-delivery orders really cost, and which single change is most likely to pay back.

An RTO rate is easy to find on a courier dashboard. What a failed COD order costs once forward and reverse shipping, packaging, payment fees, blocked inventory and acquisition spend are added up takes more work. And which of the common fixes, from confirmation calls to COD fees to partial prepayment, would improve your own profit takes a measurement on your own orders.

As designed, the COD Profit Check answers both questions for one brand, one store and one courier export at a time. The scope, duration and price are proposals we are validating with our first conversations.

Proposed scope
One brand, one store, one courier export
Proposed duration
Four weeks
Deliverable
A cost reconciliation, one recommended fix, and a measurement of what changed
Starting point
Your own order and courier data

What the four weeks look like

  1. 1Reconcile what failed COD orders cost across shipping, packaging, fees, inventory time and acquisition spend.
  2. 2Break the failures down by reason, pincode, product and order value to find where the cost concentrates.
  3. 3Pick the one fix best supported by your data, and put it in place for a defined set of orders.
  4. 4Measure the profit change against the baseline, and decide together whether to keep, adjust or drop it.

Beyond the check

Humalyze's wider practice covers data, technology and human capital. The COD Profit Check is our first packaged offer; the same measure-first approach applies to the rest of our work. Our research library shows how we think.
